Sacred Music

Welcome to the Sacred Music Program of St. Francis Xavier Parish

The music program at St. Francis Xavier parish, full of men and women, boys and girls, who love God and want to sing to him and play for him, has a long history of providing faithful music for divine worship in the Holy Mass. You are warmly invited to consider joining the music program here to offer your talents for the worship of the Heavenly Father.

MUSICAL GROUPS

YOUTH CHOIR

The Youth Choir sings at Mass each month, as well as on Christmas Eve and Easter. The students in this choir are expected to listen and be respectful of others and of the liturgy. They need to be able to follow the music. This year, the group is open to all singers in Grades 2 and up.

ADULT CHOIR

The Adult Choir sings quality part music at two Masses a month, in addition to Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter. This group has a lot of fun together in rehearsals that include prayer and devotion. This group is open to confirmed high school students up to adults. Rehearsals are Wednesday nights, 6:45-8:00 pm, in the Church Sanctuary.

ENSEMBLES

These ensembles are small groups designed to take advantage of the agility of individual voice parts. These groups are formed by the musicians themselves, and are ever-developing and growing.

CANTORS

Cantors direct and support the singing of the people, fulfilling the liturgical role proper to it, which includes singing alone. Cantors also proclaim the responsorial psalm, which requires a deep reverence and understanding of the word of God so that it may be worthily proclaimed in the liturgy.
