Sharing and Caring Hands in Minneapolis, founded by Mary Jo Copeland over 36 years ago, is known for living out the corporal works of mercy every day. The organization serves meals for the hungry six days a week – with over 240,000 meals served last year, and over 500,000 pounds of food donated each year. Sharing and Caring Hands provides over 3,300 beds for adults and children with nowhere else to sleep, and clothes thousands. This ministry allows us to be as the hands and the arms of Christ to those in need. All of the meals served and the resources provided are donated and served by volunteers. Sharing and Caring Hands offers surrounding parishes and churches of all denominations countless opportunities to come and serve.

Six times a year, St. Francis Xavier parishioners prepare, deliver and serve an afternoon meal to the homeless and needy at Sharing and Caring Hands. Please consider helping with this great work. Your help is needed to make bars or cookies, shop, butter bread, prepare the meal and deliver and serve the meal. We prepare the meal in the Parish Hall. Usual meal prepartion/serving months: February, April, June, August, October and December.

If you can help in any way, contact Pat at 763-607-1185. If you cannot physically help, please remember to pray for the success of this and other organizations that minister to the poor and homeless.

Lord our God, the poor people of our world are often tossed aside and forgotten. Help us to remember that they, too, are gifts from You.
Open our hearts to be more generous to those who go without. Amen.
