Apologetics is designed to provide an understanding of the key teachings and beliefs of the Church, and to equip us with the tools to defend their faith in the face of common objections and challenges. Topics covered include the existence of God, Jesus Christ, the Bible, the Church, Mary and the Saints, Sacraments, morality, social teaching, ecumenism, interfaith dialogue, atheism and other major world religions, and the interactions of science and faith.   This study aims to help deepen our faith and prepare us for a lifetime of sharing and defending our Catholic faith. We will meet in the Youth Room on Wednesdays from 10:00-11:30am throughout the school year. We enjoy coffee and conversation and end by praying the Rosary together. Did you inherit or acquire an urn and do not know what to do with it?   There are countless reasons why someone might have an urn of cremated remains in their home, and we are not here to judge. Saint Francis Xavier is offering free burial to anyone with an urn that they wish to have buried in the Catholic cemetery. Please contact the parish office to RSVP by Thursday, October 29th for the group burial on Sunday, November 1st at 2:00pm at Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery. Burial will occur in a group grave in the mausoleum niche, no cost, no questions asked. All are invited to attend the burial as we lay our brothers and sisters to rest and entrust them to the merciful judge, Jesus Christ.   Did You Know? The Catholic Church expects the burial of our mortal remains upon our death in a cemetery, whether that is our whole body or our cremated remains. This is because the remains of any person are the remains of someone who has been created in the image and likeness of Almighty God. Burial gives proper respect to the dignity of the person while also demonstrating the Christian belief in the resurrection of the dead on the last day. We began Catechesis of the Good Shepherd in the fall of 2020 with a group of 12 children in preschool and kindergarten. Since then, we have expanded CGS into both our Catholic school (PreK–4) and our Wednesday evening Faith Formation program (PreK–K). Last year, over 230 children participated in our program—what a blessing to our parish! This year, thanks to our dedicated volunteer catechists, we are excited to expand our evening CGS sessions through 2nd grade. What is Catechesis of the Good Shepherd? CGS is a weekly, Montessori-based faith formation program that invites children to explore two core questions: Who is God? and Who am I in relation to God? Grounded in Scripture, liturgy, and Maria Montessori’s principles, CGS honors each child’s innate spiritual capacity through hands-on learning in a peaceful, dedicated space called the Atrium. Why Catechesis of the Good Shepherd Matters for Your Family In a fast-paced world that moves quickly and speaks loudly, children need a space that is quiet, intentional, and rooted in truth.
